The Desert Isn't Deserted
I've come so far from home. I'm in Phoenix, Arizona and have been for most of today. It may be the middle of the desert, but it is not deserted. My mom's friend from her time in Phoenix a long time ago invited us to hang with her and her kids, Jeffrey and Jillian. We walked to the top of a hill behind their house and watched a dust storm roll in to town. It was a time I won't forget with some people I already consider my friends. The day before, I was in Tombstone, Arizona to witness gunfights, buy a derby hat, and eat at the crystal palace saloon. The desert scalds during the day but the monsoons bring welcome relief. The dust storm was huge and enveloped the town for a good hour. I would have loved to have stayed with Jillian and Jeffrey longer. They were cool cats. Night, y'all. Thanks for reading.
